OECS Leaders to Begin Meeting in Antigua Today as Browne Assumes Chairmanship

Regional leaders will gather in Antigua and Barbuda today for the opening of the 78th Meeting of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Authority, during which Prime Minister Gaston Browne will assume the chairmanship of the subregional body.
The two-day meeting, scheduled for June 21 and 22, will bring together heads of government from across the OECS to discuss key regional priorities, including economic growth, trade, climate resilience, security and deeper integration among member states.
Browne’s assumption of the chairmanship coincides with the OECS’ 45th anniversary celebrations under the theme, “One Vision, One Voice: Navigating Challenges, Shaping Our Future.”

The Prime Minister has signaled his intention to use his tenure to strengthen regional cooperation, particularly in areas such as transportation, energy, trade, investment and shared services.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for 4 p.m. today and will be streamed live on the OECS’ Facebook and YouTube platforms. Discussions among regional leaders will continue on Monday.
