Source Real News: A young man was wounded with a machete during a recent armed robbery in Lower Gambles, and the Police continue to investigate this incident.
Reports say the 22-year-old St. Johnstons Village man was injured and robbed of his i-Phone 10XR, valued at $1,500.
It is alleged that the victim was walking in his neighbourhood, from west to east on Nelson Mandela Drive, when a blue Honda FIT, registration number R1314, drove up behind him.
Allegedly, the vehicle, which was occupied by four young men, came to a stop.
Reportedly, one of them alighted from the rear of the car and confronted the youth with a machete, demanding, “Give me everything.”
It alleged that the robber then raised the weapon in an attempt to chop the victim, who, in a reflex action, raised his right hand and received a laceration.
The perpetrator reportedly then robbed him of his phone and then re-entered the vehicle, which sped off in an eastern direction.
It is alleged, however, that the victim refused to be taken to the hospital via the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) when it arrived on the scene.
A search was later carried out for the vehicle and alleged perpetrators, but without success.
It was the victim, himself, who called the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) via the Emergency 911 Hotline and reported that he had been robbed.
This incident is alleged to have occurred at about 5:10 p.m. on May 18.
