LIAT 2020 is set to take flight by late April or early May 2024, as Prime Minister Gaston Browne announced.

The carrier is nearing the final steps to obtain its Air Operators Certificate.

Browne mentioned a slight delay in receiving three aircraft from Air Peace, Nigeria’s largest carrier, now expected in late March, in addition to the three from LIAT 1974 Limited.

Two aircraft from LIAT 1974 Limited will require extensive repairs, with the first expected to be completed in May.

Browne highlighted that the government is investing in LIAT 2020 Limited, ensuring added support for the new entity, unlike in the past when shareholder governments did not provide equity.

The government has partnered with Nigeria’s Air Peace for this endeavor, estimated at US$80 million.
