Subject: Demand for Recognition of Jamal Jonas AKA Mello Don

Dear Members of the ABLP Leadership,

The treatment and lack of recognition shown towards Jamal Jonas also known as Mello Don, after the 2026 General Elections has left many supporters in St. John’s Rural East deeply disappointed, angry, and questioning whether the sacrifices made during the campaign truly matter to the leadership of this party.

Mello was one of the driving forces behind the energy and momentum of the campaign in St. John’s Rural East. His influence also extended beyond the constituency, as he campaigned tirelessly in other areas wherever support was needed, helping to strengthen the overall reach and impact of the campaign.

While many appeared only when cameras were present, Mello was on the ground every single day and night, motivating young people, organizing supporters, encouraging discouraged voters, and carrying the campaign on his back from beginning to end.

Many people know the truth and the reality is simple, without Mello, many people in this constituency would not have gone out to vote. Young voters especially responded to his passion, commitment, and constant presence throughout the campaign period. He gave people a reason to believe their participation mattered, and that contribution played a major role in securing victory for the ABLP in this constituency.

It is therefore shocking and unacceptable that someone who gave so much to the success of the party appears to be overlooked and undervalued. Supporters are paying attention, and many are questioning why individuals who sacrificed so much during the campaign are now being ignored after the victory has been secured.

The ABLP cannot continue to benefit from the hard work of dedicated campaigners while failing to acknowledge their contributions afterwards. Respect and recognition must be given where they are earned. Ignoring individuals like Mello sends a dangerous message that loyalty and hard work are only valued when votes are needed.

The leadership must understand that the frustration within the constituency is real. Supporters are speaking openly about the unfairness of this situation, and many believe that proper recognition is long overdue. Respect must be given where it is earned.

We are calling on the leadership of the ABLP to publicly and meaningfully acknowledge the contributions of Mello Don. Remaining silent on this matter only deepens the disappointment felt by many loyal supporters and young people throughout St. John’s Rural East.

This issue will not simply disappear, because the people who witnessed his efforts know exactly who helped carry this campaign to victory.

Signed,
