Kenyah Potter, Son of Former UPP Candidate Gladys Potter, Dies Following New York Drowning

Former United Progressive Party candidate Gladys Potter is mourning the death of her 21-year-old son, Kenyah S. Potter, who reportedly drowned while swimming at Buffalo Harbor State Park in Buffalo, New York.
Kenyah, an Antiguan who was living and studying in West Seneca, disappeared after entering the water in the park’s outer harbor shortly before midnight Saturday. He had celebrated his 21st birthday less than two weeks earlier.
Authorities said emergency responders were called after he failed to resurface, triggering a search involving the Buffalo Fire Department, Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Buffalo Police Marine Unit and Underwater Recovery Team.
His body was recovered shortly after midnight by members of the marine unit and underwater recovery team.
The Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene. An autopsy is expected to determine the cause and circumstances of his death.
Kenyah’s death has prompted an outpouring of grief among relatives and friends, who remembered him as a promising young man with a bright future.
