INS Sudarshini departs Antigua after four-day visit

The Indian Navy sail training ship INS Sudarshini has departed Antigua following a four-day port call as part of the Lokayan 26 expedition, marking a step in maritime cooperation between India and Antigua and Barbuda.
During the visit, the vessel hosted several dignitaries, including Prime Minister Gaston Browne. The ship’s commanding officer also met with Chief of Defence Staff Brigadier Telbert Benjamin of the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force.
The visit included professional exchanges between the two maritime forces and public tours aboard the vessel, giving visitors an opportunity to learn about the Indian Navy’s sail-training traditions and maritime heritage.

According to India’s Ministry of Defence, the stop formed part of efforts to strengthen maritime partnerships and goodwill with Caribbean nations. Following its departure from Antigua, the INS Sudarshini is scheduled to travel to the United States to participate in events marking the 250th anniversary of American independence.
