Carnival 2026 Planning Intensifies as Minister Meets Festival Committees

Preparations for Antigua and Barbuda’s Carnival 2026 are continuing as Minister of Sports and Creative Industries Dwayne George met with members of the Festivals Committee and its various subcommittees to review plans for the country’s premier cultural celebration.

George said the meeting focused on ensuring all aspects of Carnival are properly coordinated to deliver a smooth, safe and enjoyable experience for residents and visitors.

According to the minister, discussions centered on strengthening collaboration among organizers and putting the necessary systems and structures in place to support the successful staging of the annual event.

“We are putting the necessary systems and structures in place to make Carnival 2026 an unforgettable experience,” George said in a statement following the meeting.

He thanked committee members and volunteers for their work and commitment, noting that their efforts are critical to the success of the festival.

George said organizers remain focused on showcasing the best of Antigua and Barbuda’s culture, creativity and spirit while maintaining a safe environment for patrons.

The meeting forms part of ongoing planning efforts ahead of Carnival 2026, with organizers working across multiple committees responsible for areas such as events coordination, logistics, safety and festival operations.

Carnival is one of Antigua and Barbuda’s largest annual events, attracting thousands of participants and visitors and serving as a major celebration of the nation’s cultural heritage.
