Antiguan-born attorney Beverly Benjamin George has been installed as president of the Queens County Women’s Bar Association (QCWBA) for the 2026–2027 term.

George was sworn in during the association’s Annual Installation Dinner on June 23, attended by members of the judiciary, legal profession, elected officials, community leaders, family and friends.

Founded in 1930, the QCWBA is one of New York State’s oldest women’s bar associations. The organization promotes the fair administration of justice, supports the advancement of women in the legal profession, encourages professional development, and serves communities across Queens through education and public service.

George, who has spent her career in public service and the New York State Unified Court System, said she was honoured to lead the organization.

“It is with profound gratitude and humility that I assume the office of the 95th President of the Queens County Women’s Bar Association,” she said. “As we celebrate this milestone, I pause to reflect upon the many winding paths that have been drawn between us, all converging at this singular moment of our Association’s history.”

She said she intends to build on the association’s legacy by strengthening membership, expanding mentorship opportunities, developing future leaders, increasing community engagement and fostering closer relationships between the bench, the bar and Queens’ diverse communities.

“It is an extraordinary honor to serve as President of the Queens County Women’s Bar Association. I look forward to building upon the Association’s proud legacy while fostering meaningful connections among our members, supporting the next generation of attorneys, and continuing our commitment to service within the legal profession and the communities we serve,” George said.

George is also well known in Antigua and Barbuda as a founding member of Antiguans and Barbudans for Constitutional Reform and Education (ABCRE), an educational forum that hosts a weekly programme on Observer Radio focused on constitutional issues and civic education.
