AIDS Secretariat Offers Free Late-Night HIV Testing After Carnival

The AIDS Secretariat Education Department is encouraging residents to prioritise their sexual health following the 2026 Carnival celebrations by taking advantage of four days of free and confidential HIV testing.

The department’s Late Night Testing initiative will run from Aug. 17 to 20, with testing available each day from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at its offices at Long and Temple streets in St. John’s.

Promoted under the message, “We enjoyed Carnival. Now let’s take care of us,” the initiative encourages residents to know their HIV status and make informed decisions about their health following the Carnival season.

Officials said testing is quick and confidential, with results available within minutes. The service will be offered in a respectful and judgment-free environment.

The department said knowing one’s HIV status can help people access appropriate care, protect their partners and make informed health decisions.

“After Carnival, get tested. Know your status. Protect your future,” the campaign states.
