Four People In Police Custody in Connection With Fraud Investigation
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, August 5, 2026
The police have arrested and detained four individuals in connection with an ongoing fraud investigation following an incident at a business establishment on Lower All Saints Road.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects allegedly attempted to cash a cheque that was reportedly stolen.
The owner of the business became suspicious during the transaction and immediately contacted the police.
All four suspects were taken into custody.
The Police Administration is encouraging all business owners, financial institutions, and employees who process financial transactions to remain on heightened alert when dealing with cheques and other negotiable instruments.
Businesses are urged to carefully verify the authenticity of cheques, confirm the identity of individuals presenting them, and report any suspicious transactions to the police immediately.
