The Antigua Trades and Labour Union has been officially appointed to represent supervisory employees at the West Indies Oil Company in collective bargaining matters.
A certificate issued by Labour Commissioner Eltonia David on July 23 confirms that most supervisory workers at WIOC selected the AT&LU as their representative. The designation gives the union sole bargaining authority under Antigua and Barbuda’s Labour Code.
AT&LU President Bernard de Nully welcomed the workers, saying the union is prepared to represent their interests during negotiations with the company.
He said the development expands the union’s presence at one of the country’s largest companies and gives WIOC’s supervisory staff formal representation on workplace matters.
