Seven Delegates Unveiled for Queen of Carnival 2026 Competition

Organizers of the Antigua and Barbuda Queen of Carnival Competition have officially unveiled the seven delegates who will compete for the Queen of Carnival 2026 title under the theme, “Rhythm of a Queen: The Beat of Her Journey.”

The announcement follows what organizers described as an intensive screening process to select the contestants who will vie for one of Antigua Carnival’s most prestigious crowns.

The field includes Denesha Samuel, a graduate of Clare Hall Secondary School; Kenesha James, a graduate of Antigua State College who also pursued studies at the University of the West Indies; Queenela Williams, a graduate of Antigua State College; Christine Powell, a graduate of St. Anthony’s Secondary School; Shaveesa Gasper, a graduate of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts; Aaliyah Taylor, a graduate of Florida International University; and Zaine Frederick, a graduate of the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus.

Organizers highlighted the diverse talents and interests represented among this year’s contestants. Samuel describes herself as an extrovert and is an identical twin, while James is an avid swimmer with a love for the ocean. Williams enjoys artistic projects and once created a top made entirely from live flowers.

Powell taught herself how to sew, Gasper is known for her love of beach life and coconuts, and Taylor previously competed in the Junior Calypso Competition under the stage name “Singing Lily.” Frederick, meanwhile, is a basketball enthusiast and supporter of NBA star LeBron James.

The Queen of Carnival Competition is a longstanding feature of Antigua Carnival, providing contestants with an opportunity to showcase their intellect, creativity, talent and stage presence.

Organizers said the delegates will participate in a series of activities and appearances leading up to the competition as they begin their journey toward the crown.

Additional details on the competition and related events are expected to be announced in the coming days as preparations for Antigua Carnival 2026 continue.
