Antigua and Barbuda weightlifters attend 1-week training & workshop in Barbados (29 May – 4 June 2026)

A delegation from the Antigua and Barbuda Weightlifting Federation departed for Barbados on 28 May 2026 to take part in a one-week intensive training and development workshop hosted by the Barbados Weightlifting Association, 29th May – 4th June 2026.

– Jaunii Nathaniel (athlete)

– Daniel Antonio (athlete)
– Kevesha Nedwell (female athlete)
– Coach: Durand Meade
The program is led by Andrew Callender of the Barbados Weightlifting Association and includes additional technical support from a professional coach from USA Weightlifting. The workshop focuses on technical refinement, competition preparation, strength and conditioning, and sport science support tailored to peak performance at major events.
Funding and support:
– The training and workshop are fully funded by the Continental Weightlifting Federation.
– Logistical assistance was provided by the Antigua and Barbuda National Olympic Committee.
Purpose and outlook:
The three athletes are earmarked for invitational slots at the 2026 Central American and Pan American Games in the Dominican Republic. Participation in this workshop is part of their targeted preparation to maximise competitiveness at that multi-sport event.
