As the Easter Weekend approaches, the authority anticipates an increase in kite-flying activities but emphasizes the potential danger and hazard they pose to aircraft.

The no-fly zone for kites extends from Five Islands in the West to a portion of Cedar Grove in the north, encompassing areas such as Piggotts, Osborne, and the immediate surroundings of the VC Bird International Airport.

In their notice, the Airport Authority highlights the importance of cooperation from the public in adhering to these safety measures. Kite-flying in restricted zones can disrupt aircraft during their approach or departure from the airport, posing risks to both air traffic and public safety.

“We kindly ask the public to refrain from any kite flying in the designated no fly zone,” stated a spokesperson for the Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority. “Your cooperation on this important matter is truly appreciated as we work together to ensure a blessed and safe Easter for all.”
