Visitors’ rental car vandalized and possessions stolen, but all items except laptop are found

REAL NEWS: A visiting Trinidad and Tobago citizen was the victim of malicious damage andlarceny while he was enjoying an outing at a local beach.

CLICK HERE TO JOIN OUR WHATS APP GROUP Reports say the visitor reported to the Grays Farm Police Station that anunknown person had caused damage to the two rear windows of a Kia Riothat he rented from Down West Car Rental. Further reports say the man and a female companion, also from Trinidad,arrived in Antigua on May 30 and are scheduled to leave on Tuesday, June 4. On May 30, between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m., they visited Dieppe Bay, where theyparked and secured the rental vehicle and went over to the beach. However, upon their return to the vehicle they discovered that the windows ofboth rear doors had been broken out.

A multi-colored bag containing an Olympus digital camera, valued at US$500;a pair of reading glasses valued at TT$4,000; an HP laptop in a laptop bag,valued at US$3,000; and a purse containing two passports and a number ofbank cards and a driver’s license, had been stolen. Apparently the perpetrator had used a hard object to break the glass andaccess the items left inside the vehicle.

 The Police conducted a search via a footpath in some nearby bushes, and themulti-colored bag containing the digital camera, reading glasses, and thepurse with the bank cards, passports, and license was found. Those items were processed for fingerprints and later handed over to thevictim.

The vehicle reportedly was taken to the Grays Farm Police Station andprocessed, as well.
