Reports say the deputy principal of the Villa Primary School telephoned the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and complained that the school had been broken into and several items taken.

This offence reportedly occurred between 6 a.m. on March 16 and 6:15 a.m. on March 17.

Further reports say the principal had secured her office by closing and locking the door; however, upon her return, she observed that her office had been damaged and the electronic items were missing.

Reportedly the intruders had gained entry by cutting through a portion of a western door. They then used force to break it down, entered, and removed the items.

A search for these things, carried out in the immediate and surrounding areas, yielded no success.

When this type of offence had been more prevalent last year (2023), the Government promised to install surveillance cameras in schools across the island.

However, this appears not to have been realized, as thieves seem to be making schools their target once again.
