Delano Forbes has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of Maurison Thomas, whose body was found at his All Saints home in March 2018.

The 31-year-old was convicted by a jury last December after a lengthy High Court trial. A judge ordered that his sentence be reviewed after 15 years.

Prosecutors said Thomas died from severe head injuries inflicted with a blunt object. Investigators linked Forbes to the crime through forensic and digital evidence, including recovered video footage, a distinctive hoodie and items belonging to the victim.

Justice Ann Marie Smith handed down the sentence. The prosecution was led by Director of Public Prosecutions Clement Joseph, while Sherfield Bowen appeared for the defence.

Despite the conviction, Forbes still faces three other murder charges connected to separate killings between 2017 and 2018.

The sentencing brings an end to one chapter in a case that has remained before the courts for more than eight years, though further murder proceedings against Forbes are still pending.
