During a recent council meeting at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Five Islands Campus, Principal Professor C. Justin Robinson expressed profound gratitude towards the government of Antigua and Barbuda for their unwavering support.

This acknowledgment came as part of his broader remarks on the campus’s strategic direction and commitment to excellence.

“I want to end by thanking the government of Antigua and Barbuda for their unwavering support,” stated Professor Robinson, highlighting the exceptional level of support the campus has received from the government.

“I am very familiar with the UWI system, and I have never experienced the level of government support for a campus that I’ve experienced in my time here.”

Professor Robinson’s statement not only recognized the invaluable support of the Antigua and Barbuda government but also extended an open invitation to other Eastern Caribbean governments to join in supporting the campus.

Beyond expressing gratitude, Professor Robinson outlined the campus’s strategic initiatives, emphasizing a purpose-driven culture and financial prudence.

“In emphasizing shared ideals and contributing to a great cause, what is the greater cause? Why are we here? What is our purpose? Enhancing human capital in the region—that’s what we are here for,” stated Professor Robinson passionately during the meeting.

He further outlined the strategic initiatives of the campus, stating, “We are building the Strategic Plan. We are building a Purpose-Driven culture to exceed on that plan.” This commitment to a purpose-driven approach reflects the campus’s dedication to achieving excellence and meeting the rising expectations in the region.

Professor Robinson also acknowledged the critical role of financial prudence and sustainability, stating, “The campus stands ready to meet the rising expectations. The campus continues to endeavor to be financially prudent, focusing on using a shared services model across the UWI and finding ways to sustain itself.”
