Press Release:

The Confucius Institute of Antigua and Barbuda (CIAB), with co-operation from the Antigua and Barbuda China Friendship Association (ABCFA) and the Overseas Chinese Association of Antigua and Barbuda, is thrilled to announce the launch of the First Antigua and Barbuda-China Art Exhibition. This unique exhibition offers an enriching blend of painting and calligraphy works, created by Mrs. ZHENG LAI Yili over years.

Mrs. ZHENG has resided in Antigua and Barbuda for 23 years. Deeply inspired by the extraordinary Caribbean landscapes and rich history, she also always bears China her hometown in mind and benefits from its specific traditional culture. When the 41st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Antigua and Barbuda is approaching, this cultural exchange event is proposed jointly to demonstrate splendid culture and landscapes of both Antigua and China, including sceneries, folk customs, and calligraphy.

Book Launch

Some paintings featured in this exhibition are included in Mrs Zheng’s books Traditional Chinese Flowers and Making Home in the Beautiful Islands of Antigua and Barbuda. The two books embedding her love to both Antigua and China will be launched on the closing ceremony.
