St. Peter MP Asot Michael pleaded not guilty to a battery charge in All Saints Magistrate’s Court this morning.

He is accused of assaulting a female police officer during a fete last summer.

The officer claims that on August 5, Michael grabbed her cheeks without consent and, when pushed away, grabbed her uniform, undoing some buttons.

Represented by Hugh Marshall, Michael’s trial is set to begin on July 17 after several adjournments.
