Authorities remained at the crime scene in the early hours of the morning.
“She was almost home, but she never made it.” These heartbreaking words came from a grieving relative of 9-year-old Chantel Crump, whose body was found in the bushes at Weatherhills on Saturday morning.
Chantel was a young girl full of promise, her future abruptly stolen for reasons still unknown.
As her remains were carefully placed into the hearse, anguished cries echoed from heartbroken family members, while others stood in silent sorrow, tears streaming down their faces.
The tragedy unfolded when Chantel was abducted while walking home from school with her friends.
“They told us she waved goodbye from the window of that gray car. She had no idea it was her final farewell—to them, to us, to life,” a family member shared at the scene.
The motive behind her killing remains a mystery.
Two individuals—a man and a woman—are currently in police custody as authorities prepare to release an official statement.
