The Ministry of Works will begin repairing streets in Saint John’s this week, particularly those on the carnival parade route, ahead of the opening parade on Saturday, July 27, 2024.

This temporary fix aims to ensure the smooth flow and safety of the parade.

The government has allocated over $21 million for equipment to support a nationwide road repair program, expected to begin soon.

A major obstacle has been the scarcity of sand, but a recent shipment from Montserrat, which is more cost-effective and environmentally preferable to Barbuda sand, will facilitate the repairs.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne affirmed that the Cabinet is committed to improving the city streets, providing the necessary resources to the Ministry of Works.
