Prime Minister Gaston Browne announced that the All Saints West seat will be reserved for Anthony Smith.
Browne expressed his confidence in Smith, stating, “The way I see it, down the road he’s going to end up as a candidate in All Saints West. I have no doubt about that.”
Currently, Smith is not affiliated with the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) and maintains his independence.
Browne emphasized the importance of preserving this independence, explaining, “That’s not something we can do at this point because that will undermine his independence as it stands now. He’s not on any Labour Party whip, he’s not a member of the Labour Party; he’s an independent.”

The Prime Minister revealed that the primary for All Saints West has been cancelled, paving the way for Smith’s future involvement.
“You would have known that they went ahead and cancelled the primary for All Saints West,”
Browne noted. “In fact, I can tell you all straight up, we’ll be leaving a seat vacant for him.”
Addressing Labour Party supporters in All Saints West, Browne assured them of Smith’s eventual representation.
“All of the Labour Party supporters in All Saints West must understand that at some point, Anthony is coming as a representative for Labour,” he said.
