Police Seize 34 Pounds Of Cannabis During Joint Drug Operation

POLICE SEIZE 34 POUNDS OF CANNABIS DURING JOINT DRUG OPERATION
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, June 20, 2026
Police and Customs officials have seized a significant quantity of cannabis during a joint drug operation at the V.C. Bird International Airport.
Around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, officers attached to the Narcotics Department and Customs Enforcement personnel, carried out the operation at the LIAT Cargo Shed.
During the exercise, law enforcement officers searched a brown cardboard box and discovered thirty-four (34) vacuum-sealed packages containing a bushy substance resembling cannabis.
The packages were seized, and the box along with its contents was transported to Police Headquarters for further examination and investigations.
The substance weighed thirty-four (34) pounds, with an estimated street value of EC$204,000.00. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda remains committed to working closely with its local, regional, and international partners to combat the trafficking of illegal drugs and other transnational crimes.
