Murder Suspect Committed to May Assizes

A young man charged with the murder of Syrian Roudi Shmaly has been committed to the May Assizes.

Jahsiba Shoy, the second individual charged in connection with the murder that occurred in May 2023, faces charges alongside a 16-year-old boy in remand since earlier this year.

Shmaly, 25, met a tragic end during a robbery at Pick ‘n Mix Mart on Desouza Road on May 22.

Shoy appeared in St. John’s Magistrates’ Court, facing charges of murder and aggravated robbery, with his case forwarded to the High Court for a later date, while he remains in remand.
