This matter was reported to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) by a 911 operator, after the offence occurred at about 10:15 a.m. on February 19.

The man allegedly was robbed of his Rolex watch by the two perpetrators, who also assaulted him during the offence.

Reports say the 48-year-old German citizen, a crew member on board the Mein Schiff 4 cruise ship, had to be treated at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for injuries he sustained during the robbery.

Reports say the visitor was walking along the Fort James road when two unknown men attacked him.

One of them allegedly struck him in the head with a black handgun until he fell to the ground.

The other assailant kicked him in the stomach and tried to pull the visitor’s bag away.

However, the man held onto his bag tightly, and, as a result, one of the men pulled his watch from his wrist, and the two then fled the scene.

The victim reportedly was injured to his head, right elbow, and both knees and was transported to the hospital by the Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

A search was carried out in the surrounding areas for the alleged offenders and the stolen watch, which the Police were able to recover further down the road from where the robbery occurred.

Inquiries into this incident are continuing.
