Food and Cash Stolen in Break-In at Food Brokerage Services Limited; Police Investigate

A quantity of food items and money was recently stolen from Food BrokerageServices Limited, and the Police continue to investigate this incident ofbuilding break-in and larceny.

 A report of the break-in was made to the police by the Upper Gamblesproprietor of the South Street business.  Reports say that officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID)went to the scene, where it was discovered that the intruders had gainedentry through a southern burglar-barred glass window.  Apparently, they had used an implement to cut open the locks on the burglarbar and then used a hard object to break the glass. After entry was gained, the perpetrators stole a number of food items and anundisclosed sum of cash from two cash registers – and also removed oneregister.  Reportedly, a search was carried out in the surrounding areas for the stolenitems, but without success. 

However, the police discovered a stone inside thebuilding and it was retrieved and taken to St. John’s Police Station forinvestigation purposes.  

This offence is alleged to have occurred sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 6a.m. on May13.
