APUA Completes Repairs to Southern Water Mains, Restoration Underway

The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) says repairs to two broken water distribution mains along the southern water supply network have been completed, but customers may still experience delays as the system gradually returns to normal.

According to the Water Business Unit, repairs were completed on Tuesday to a broken main between the former Radio Lighthouse site and Jennings Ghaut, and another in the Darkwood area.

The utility said crews are now allowing the distribution lines to recharge while continuing efforts to replenish the Grays Hill Reservoir. Both processes must be completed before water service can gradually resume to affected customers.

APUA said the repairs in the Darkwood area are also expected to improve the flow of water to communities north of the Ffryes Reverse Osmosis Plant, extending to Old Road.

The authority reminded customers that water service may take some time to normalize as the distribution network recharges and storage levels at the Grays Hill Reservoir recover.

Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspected water leaks by calling 211 so the Water Business Unit can investigate and respond.

APUA thanked customers for their patience and understanding.
