According to PM Browne, Antigua and Barbuda has not only recovered from setbacks such as Hurricane Irma and the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic but has also shown robust economic growth.

“In the last four years, under my administration, this country has seen significant growth, almost unprecedented. By the end of this year, we will have a $6 billion economy,” Browne asserted, emphasizing the near doubling of the nation’s economy from about $3.2 billion.

Browne pointed out that while St. Kitts and Nevis celebrates a commendable 4% growth, Antigua and Barbuda has been consistently achieving an 8% growth rate annually for the past four years.

He attributed this success to the leadership and policies of his government, which have been instrumental in navigating the country through various crises and achieving substantial economic growth.

The Prime Minister was also critical of the opposition, noting their lack of contribution to the country’s progress. He highlighted historical periods under different administrations that he described as the least productive and compared them unfavorably to the achievements under his leadership.

As the debate over the true economic leader in the Caribbean heats up, Browne’s administration continues to focus on investment and development projects aimed at sustaining growth.

“We’ve attracted investments, and many of these are the result of efforts to establish relationships with different entities in the Middle East since 2014,” Browne noted, underlining his government’s proactive approach to fostering economic expansion.
