Antigua and Barbuda is investing significantly to prepare for the T20 Cricket World Cup, ensuring its venues meet international standards.

Minister Daryll Matthew highlighted commendations from the ICC for upgrades at Coolidge Cricket Ground, Liberta Sports Club, and Antigua Recreation Ground.

He emphasized that while cosmetic improvements are desired by citizens, they are not required by the ICC for practice venues.

Basic facilities like bathrooms, outfield, and pitch are prioritized. Antigua and Barbuda will host seven matches, with Sir Vivian Richards Stadium undergoing renovations, including new dressing rooms and scoreboards.

Matches begin on June 9, and the historic Antigua Recreation Ground will also be revitalized for cricket. Minister Matthew aims to recertify it for professional matches, enhancing Antigua’s cricket infrastructure.
