Antigua and Barbuda Youth Symphony Orchestra’s Annual Junior Recital: Excellence with Every Note

The Antigua and Barbuda Youth Symphony Orchestra (ABYSO) proudly presented their Annual Junior Recital, “Excellence with Every Note,” on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at the John E. St. Luce Finance and Conference Centre.

This highly anticipated event showcased the remarkable talents of the island’s young musicians, under the impressive leadership of Trainee Conductors Nakiya Defreitas and Alphany Joseph.

The recital featured inspiring performances by Pianist Adrianne Donnawa-Henry and was eloquently hosted by Claudine Benjamin.

Adding to the evening’s splendor, special musicians who have made significant contributions to the world of music worked closely with the young artists. Esteemed musicians Sheku and Brimah Kanneh-Mason, Violinist Natalie Clouder, Clarinetist Vicky Manderson, and Viola specialist Connie Pharoah, provided invaluable mentorship and inspiration.

Violinist Natalie Clouder, who previously played with ABYSO in the 2019 “Annual Playing to Inspire” concert, returned to collaborate with the orchestra, further enriching the experience for the young performers.

In attendance was His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams, the Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda, who lauded the young musicians for their outstanding performance.

His Excellency also commended the principals of ABYSO for their unwavering dedication to the development of the island’s youth, noting the orchestra’s continued growth and success.
