Police Commissioner to Criminals: ‘We’re Coming for You’

Police Commissioner Everton Jeffers has warned violent offenders that they will face an aggressive response from law enforcement as security operations intensify ahead of Carnival.

Speaking during a news conference Thursday following a series of fatal shootings, Jeffers said police would no longer allow criminals to terrorize communities.

“We are tired of you coming in and driving fear in the community,” Jeffers said. “We’re going to turn it around and reverse that fear back to you. We’re coming for you.”

He said police have developed operational strategies aimed at making it more difficult for offenders to evade capture.

“If you decide that you’re going to come into the net, I want you to know when you come in, it’s not going to be very easy for you to get out,” Jeffers said.

The commissioner confirmed that enhanced Carnival security operations are already being introduced, with additional officers and resources expected to become increasingly visible across the country.

He said police would deploy every available intelligence capability and investigative tool to identify, apprehend and bring offenders before the courts.

Jeffers also addressed a social media video that allegedly threatened police officers.

“You don’t go around checking police,” he said. “You will be getting a visit from us, sir — not long from now.”

The commissioner urged residents to report suspicious activity, saying public cooperation remains critical to preventing and solving crimes.
