Prime Minister Gaston Browne has commended members of his Cabinet for what he described as their strong performances during the recent parliamentary debate on the government’s proposed third-country nationals agreement with the United States.

Director General of Communications Maurice Merchant said Browne opened Thursday’s Cabinet meeting by congratulating his ministers on their presentations during the debate, singling out several of the administration’s newer Cabinet members.

Merchant said the prime minister praised the ministers for their contributions, saying they not only reflected positively on his administration but also demonstrated the calibre of leadership elected by the people of Antigua and Barbuda.

According to Merchant, Browne said the performances should make “not only his administration proud, but all of Antigua and Barbuda.”

Merchant added that the prime minister viewed the debate as evidence that Antiguans and Barbudans made the right choice in overwhelmingly electing his administration at the last general election.

The remarks came at the conclusion of Thursday’s post-Cabinet media briefing, which highlighted several government initiatives and policy decisions considered during Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting.
