Antigua and Barbuda’s Geolyna Dowdye captured gold in the women’s 200 metres at the OECS Championships on Saturday, setting a new championship record in the process.
Dowdye crossed the finish line in 23.28 seconds to claim the title, eclipsing the previous championships record of 23.30 seconds.
The former mark had stood since July 2, 2017, when Tahesia Harrigan-Scott of the British Virgin Islands established it.
Dowdye’s performance secured Antigua and Barbuda another gold medal at the championships while etching her name into the record books with the fastest women’s 200m ever run at the OECS Championships.
