Antigua and Barbuda has been selected to host CARIFESTA 2029 after Caribbean leaders accepted the country’s bid during the 51st Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

The decision, announced in the meeting’s final communiqué, positions Antigua and Barbuda as the host of the Caribbean’s premier festival celebrating arts, culture and heritage.

CARICOM Heads of Government also accepted Guyana’s offer to host CARIFESTA 2027, setting the stage for the festival’s next two editions.

CARIFESTA, the Caribbean Festival of Arts, brings together artists, musicians, performers, writers and cultural practitioners from across the region for exhibitions, concerts, theatre productions, literary events and other cultural showcases. It is regarded as one of the Caribbean’s largest celebrations of creative expression.

The communiqué did not provide details on Antigua and Barbuda’s proposed programme or venues for the 2029 festival, but the decision gives the country several years to prepare for the regional event.

The announcement comes as Antigua and Barbuda also prepares to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in November 2026, another major international event expected to draw world leaders and thousands of delegates to the twin-island nation.
