Tourism Minister Says Antigua and Barbuda Expanding Appeal With New Investments and Experiences

Antigua and Barbuda is continuing to expand its appeal as a world-class Caribbean destination through new tourism investments, sustainable travel initiatives, and the return of the iconic Antigua Carnival. During Caribbean Week, New York Living spoke with Charles “Max” Fernandez, Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Transportation and Investment, about what’s new across the twin-island nation and why now is an ideal time to visit.
With 365 beaches, year-round sunshine, and a growing roster of luxury resorts and visitor experiences, Antigua and Barbuda continues to attract travelers from around the globe.
Joining New York Living was Charles “Max” Fernandez, Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Transportation and Investment, who shared updates on the destination’s latest tourism developments, increasing international investment, and growing global profile.

While new hospitality projects and expanded visitor offerings are helping to elevate the tourism experience, Antigua and Barbuda remains committed to preserving the natural beauty that makes the islands so special. Sustainability continues to play a key role in the nation’s tourism strategy, with efforts focused on protecting marine environments, wildlife habitats, and natural attractions throughout both islands.
The conversation also highlighted the wide variety of experiences available beyond the beach. Visitors can explore historic sites, enjoy authentic Caribbean cuisine, discover eco-tourism adventures, and experience Barbuda’s renowned Frigate Bird Sanctuary—one of the largest in the Western Hemisphere.
