Prime Minister Gaston Browne Appoints 22-Year-Old to Senate in Blend of Youth and Experience

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has appointed 10 new senators, among them 22-year-old Youth Ambassador Shaquan O’Neil, who becomes the youngest senator appointed to the Upper House in Antigua and Barbuda’s history.
Among the new senators is Kendra Beazer, who unsuccessfully contested the Barbuda seat for the ABLP in the April 30 general election. Angelica O’Donoghue, Abena St. Luce and Joel Rayne are the other new faces in the Senate.
Alincia Williams-Grant, who will be appointed Senate President; Lamin Newton, who unsuccessfully contested the All Saints East & St. Luke seat for the ABLP; Colin O’Neil Browne; Phillip Shoul; and Shenella Govia are the other senators who served during the previous term and have been reappointed.
