Attorney General and Public Safety Minister Sir Steadroy Benjamin has expressed confidence in Acting Police Commissioner Everton Jeffers, who is set to replace Atlee Rodney as the country’s top cop. Rodney will assume the role of Deputy Executive Director of the Regional Security System (RSS) on April 7.
In a state media interview, Benjamin described Jeffers as a disciplinarian with over 40 years of experience and a strong understanding of people. He highlighted Jeffers’ commitment to community policing, neighborhood watch programs, and fostering public involvement in law enforcement.
“He’s a good Christian-minded man, and I’m certain that with his experience, he will be able to bring people together as a unit,” Benjamin stated.
Jeffers’ confirmation as Police Commissioner is expected soon.
