West Indies Sail Heritage Foundation Announces Winners of the Global Recycling Day Essay Writing Competition

Antigua and Barbuda – March 18th, 2026 – The West Indies Sail Heritage Foundation (WISH) is excited to announce the winners of our Global Recycling Day Essay Writing Competition, held under the theme “Don’t Think Waste. Think Opportunity!” The competition challenged students to explore global recycling solutions and propose creative ways to reduce plastic waste in Antigua & Barbuda.
Winners include:
Ages 8–12:
1st Prize goes to Kaelem Gardner (Christian Union Pre & Junior Academy) Special Recognition goes to Logan Henry (Five Islands Primary School)
Ages 13–17:
Most Structured Essay goes to Zende Hazelwood (St. Anthony’s Secondary School) Most Creative Essay goes to Sanaa Simon (Christ the King High School)
Special Recognition goes to India Walker-Jacobs (Christ the King High School)
Prizes were generously sponsored by Scooteroo, South Coast Horizon, TropicalAdventures, Adventure Antigua, SWASH Waterpark, and The Gifted Ribbon, including eco-tours, school packages, waterpark passes, and custom tumblers.
