Police Officers Commended for Exemplary Service Following Recent Incidents

Two police officers who recently graduated from the Sir Wright F. George Police Academy have been lauded by Attorney General and Public Safety Minister, Hon. Sir Steadroy Benjamin, for their bravery and professionalism during separate incidents over the weekend.

Constable Alecia Grant demonstrated swift action in apprehending a man accused of snatching jewelry from a cruise tourist in St. John’s on Saturday morning.

Despite sustaining injuries while subduing the suspect, she managed to prevent his escape and has since been treated at the hospital.

The Attorney General praised her courage and credited the heightened police presence in the city for contributing to swift responses.

Meanwhile, Constable Jeremiah Clarke was commended for maintaining composure under pressure while issuing a ticket for an alleged traffic violation.

A viral video showed the officer calmly handling the situation despite facing verbal abuse from an irate motorist.

Sir Steadroy Benjamin emphasized that the officers’ actions reflect the high standards instilled during their training at the Police Academy and expressed appreciation to the Police Administration for their continued efforts in equipping officers to perform effectively.
