VIDEO: Ministry of Works Employees Block Road Over Outstanding Pay

Employees at Antigua and Barbuda’s Ministry of Works staged industrial action on Tuesday, blocking the road outside the ministry as they demanded payment of outstanding wages.
The action was confirmed by George Wehner, who said workers took the protest to press for outstanding payments owed to them.
Heavy-duty ministry trucks were positioned across the roadway, bringing traffic to a standstill and restricting access to the ministry as employees gathered outside the compound.
The demonstration caused traffic delays in the area, with motorists forced to wait or seek alternative routes while the road remained blocked.
Up to the time of publication, the Ministry of Works and the government had not issued a public response to the industrial action or indicated when the outstanding payments would be made.
It was also unclear whether talks were underway between the employees and government officials to resolve the dispute.
