UWI Five Islands and Primary School host community 5K to promote health and education

Students, teachers and staff from the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus and Five Islands Primary School took part in a 5K run and walk on Sunday, aimed at promoting healthy living and supporting education.
The annual event, now in its second year, brought together members of the Five Islands community to raise funds for student scholarships and school programmes.
Campus principal Professor C. Justin Robinson said the initiative extends beyond fitness, forming part of a wider effort to encourage healthier lifestyles.
Previous activities have included a “No Sugar November” campaign and a New Year step challenge encouraging daily targets of up to 15,000 steps.
Five Islands Primary School principal Alden James said the partnership continues to benefit students and strengthen community ties.
Organisers say growing participation reflects increasing public support for initiatives focused on both education and well-being.
