SOURCE VIRGIN ISLANDS NEWS ONLINE: TRELLIS BAY, Beef Island, VI- Information reaching our newsroom is that an incident between passengers and officials of interCaribbean Airways spiralled at the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport this morning, December 22, 2025, as passengers became irate over the cancellation of a flight which was destined for Santo Domingo.

The interCaribbean Airways flight JY410 from Tortola (EIS) to Santo Domingo (SDQ), which was scheduled to depart from around 11:35 AM AST and set to arrive in Santo Domingo at 1:05 PM AST, was cancelled.

Based on information provided to our newsdesk, armed police were reportedly at the airport; however, the irate passengers insisted that they were not leaving and continued to demand that interCaribbean find another flight to get them to their destination.

Police to make arrests

According to an anonymous source, police have indicated that they will make arrests.

Attempts were made to contact the Managing Director of the BVI Airports Authority (BVIAA), Mr Kurt A.G. Menal, as well as officials from intercaribbean Airways, but this has proven to be futile.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) was also contacted, and its media liaison, Akia L. Thomas, said she would enquire and get back to us.

Virgin Islands News Online will continue following up on this matter and will bring any updates when they become available.
