Statement from Dulcie Horsford

The recent attempts to characterize the UPP Women’s Forum as “destructive” are both unfortunate and deeply misleading. As a proud member of this organization, I feel compelled to address these assertions and to defend the integrity and purpose of the women who continue to serve faithfully within the United Progressive Party.

The Women’s Forum has consistently played a positive and constructive role within the UPP. Our mission has always been centered on supporting the organization through fundraising initiatives, community engagement, and volunteerism, with the hope of helping to maintain the party’s financial independence and long-term viability without reliance on special interests.

Like any group comprised of strong, independent individuals, there may at times be differences of opinion among members. However, disagreement should never be confused with disunity or destruction. The women of this organization have continuously demonstrated maturity, resilience, and dedication in the face of challenges.

It is regrettable that personal grievances and internal conflicts have now spilled into the public domain in a manner that seeks to discredit and undermine the women of the organization. Such narratives are not only divisive but also disrespectful to the countless women who give of their time, energy, and resources in service to the party and the wider society.

The women of the UPP come from every sector of Antiguan and Barbudan society. We are independent thinkers, committed workers, and proud contributors to national development. We refuse to be intimidated, silenced, or diminished because we choose to stand firm in our convictions.

Women have always been the backbone of political organizations, communities, and families alike. The contributions of women must never be dismissed or trivialized. Strength in women should be celebrated, not attacked.

Despite the negativity and distractions, the women of the United Progressive Party remain committed to the principles of service, unity, and progress. We will continue to show up, work hard, and contribute meaningfully to the organization we proudly support.

I salute the women of the United Progressive Party for their unwavering dedication, strength, and perseverance.
