Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney has urged political leaders and supporters to ensure a peaceful St. Peter’s by-election on January 14. Speaking on state media, he emphasized that the police are prepared to maintain order, having held discussions with the electoral commission.
“We do not want clashes, conflicts, or arguments—let’s ensure a peaceful by-election,” Rodney said, appealing for adherence to election rules.
The by-election will see Rawdon Turner of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) and George Whener of the United Progressive Party (UPP) contest the seat previously held by MP Asot Michael, who passed away in November after over two decades in office. Both candidates were officially nominated on December 31.
