The Barbuda Council represents the people of Barbuda who are the owners of the lands of Barbuda.

The ongoing plan of the Gaston Browne Administration to use the Land Adjudication Act and other laws that do not supersede the Local Government Act to unilaterally register and sell the People’s land will not be accepted or allowed.

The Barbuda Council notes the recent efforts of the Administration to push its unilateral land agenda and reminds all that this matter is presently before the court.

Additionally, the Council urges all Barbudans to continue to stay clear of these efforts to disenfranchise them of their rights to all the lands of Barbuda.

The Barbuda Local Government Act (1976) as amended and entrenched in the Constitution of Antigua and Barbuda empowers the Barbuda Council with responsibility to Administer the island of Barbuda.
