Sports Minister Encourages National Team Ahead of NACAC Championships in Mexico

Dwayne George Urges Team Antigua and Barbuda to Compete With Pride at NACAC Championships
Minister of Sports and Creative Industries Dwayne George encouraged Team Antigua and Barbuda to represent the nation with pride as the delegation departed Wednesday for the NACAC Under-18 and Under-23 Athletics Championships in Apizaco.
The championships will be held from July 10 to 12, with Antigua and Barbuda fielding athletes in both the Under-18 and Under-23 categories.
Speaking to the team at V.C. Bird International Airport before their departure, George reminded the athletes that they would be representing not only themselves but also their families, coaches and country.
“We’re going out to win, but win, lose or draw, we still love you and we’re still here to support you wholeheartedly,” the minister told the team.
He urged the athletes to compete to the best of their abilities while proudly carrying the national flag and recognizing the sacrifices made by those who helped prepare them for international competition.
“You are doing a good work for Antigua and Barbuda. We love you and we cheer you,” George said.
