Shock and Grief in Gray’s Farm After Death of Nikisha Rose

A late-night shooting in Michael’s Village has claimed the life of 42-year-old Gray’s Farm resident Nikisha Rose, a popular hairdresser whose death has sparked an outpouring of grief across her community.
Friends and colleagues described Rose as warm, energetic and constantly smiling, with strong ties to residents through her work as a hairstylist and with the Schools Meals Programme. Many said her passing has left a painful gap in the close-knit neighbourhood.
“She was always full of life, always encouraging others,” a co-worker said, describing the loss as sudden and devastating.
Police said the shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. Friday, January 23, near the G&E Parking Lot. Rose was travelling in a vehicle with a male companion when an unknown assailant opened fire, striking both occupants.

Both were taken to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre with gunshot wounds. Rose later died from her injuries and was pronounced dead at about 11:21 p.m. The male victim, also from Gray’s Farm, remains hospitalised in stable condition.
As news spread, residents expressed disbelief and sorrow, remembering Rose as a hardworking mother and a valued member of the community.
Investigations are ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477). The Police Administration has extended condolences to Rose’s family and loved ones.
