Senator Dwayne George Launched Capacity Building Training Session on Parliamentary Procedures for Constituents

Residents of the St. Mary’s South Constituency were on Wednesday 22nd January 2025 treated to a capacity building training session on Parliamentary procedures.

The event which was organized by the ABLP’s Caretaker for the Constituency, Senator Dwayne George and the Branch, was explicitly designed to build knowledge and foster greater understanding of the rules and protocols governing parliamentary debates.

Furthermore, the training was facilitated by renowned Youth Advocate and founder of the National Youth Parliament Association of Antigua and Barbuda Mr. Kamalie Mannix, and covered Key topics such as the role and power of the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate in parliamentary debates, parliamentary language, bills and the introduction for debate, the appropriate use of point of order and point of elucidation.

The session ended on a practical note with constituents given the opportunity to engage in a mock parliamentary debate on the hypothetical bill titled ‘The Education Amendment Bill 2025.’
