Road construction remained steady in January, Ministry of Works says

In a monthly recap, the ministry said consistent progress was supported by extended operations at the concrete batching plant, full-capacity quarry production, and the coordinated efforts of engineers, truck drivers, road crews and contractors.
Officials said a major focus for 2026 is expanding community road works while continuing refurbishment of key thoroughfares. That effort is being supported by the commissioning of a new crusher at the Public Works Quarry and increased storage capacity through three new cement silos at the Concrete Plant.
The ministry said the upgraded facilities will also strengthen support for housing and community development projects nationwide.
The update acknowledged the role of Works Minister Maria Browne, ministry leadership, the Project Implementation Management Unit, partner agencies including APUA and ABTB, and private contractors for maintaining project momentum.
Officials said further updates on road works are expected as projects continue throughout the year.
